Me and my friend share one computer at hostel and we just brought a new laptop with windows xp install, we have two account on windows xp and we have one email address only. Is it possible to use this email address on both user account of windows xp, And if yes then how i can do this?

Windows XP is the multi user, multi programming, time sharing operating system which enable user to use different programs and softwares on separate user account and with this you also can use the specific software on more then two user account. You can use any software provided by microsoft in different account of windows xp separately.

Outlook and Outlook express both are the email clients provided by microsoft. outlook is a paid email clients which
is installed with microsoft office, and outlook express is a free email clients which comes with the internet explorer.

You can use your same email address on different user account of windows xp with the help of outlook or outlook express.

In the first step we need to configure outlook or outlook express for an email address, on both the user account of windows xp.

Configuration of email address in outlook or outlook express include

  • Specifying outlook account name which you can create as same as your windows xp user name.
  • Specify the specific email address.
  • Specify the password related to the email address.
  • Configure the email incoming and outgoing mail servers for an email address. ETC

Those are some of the common setting like you have to insert to run your email address with outlook or outlook express.

For using one email address with two windows xp user account, you need to configure outlook or outlook express
in some different way. You need to share same “folder” for the email address on both user account.

Now follow the given steps to configure your outlook.

  • Go to “Tools” option of outlook.
  • Now go to “Options” menu.
  • Now If you are using outlook then go to “Maintenance” tab select the “Store Folder” button and then specify the folder to which you want to share your emails.
  • And if you are using outlook 2007 then go to “Mail setup” tab and then “Data Files” option then then select the specific folder.
  • Do the same setting on your other windows xp user account too.

and you are Done, Now you will be able to use one email address on more than one windows xp user account.
