Conclusion on Save sent items folder - Microsoft Outlook express is able to save sent items like emails but it has some limitations which restrict you somewhere. As you want to save folders of outlook express into DVD or CD which have some limitations.

I am using outlook express as my default email client and i want to save sent items folder into DVD or CD, Is it possible to save the specific folder into other secondary memory storage?

and because it is very popular the different quality of user wants different type of options in it.

Save the Sent Items folder into Hard drive in Outlook Express

You can easily save your sent items from outlook express into your hard drive, Here are the steps from which you can save the specific folder.

• First we need to find the the place at which the emails and sent items folder is located.
• For this Go to “Tools” menu under the outlook express.
• Now select the “Options” tab from the pop up window.
• Select the “Maintenance” tab.
• Now press the “Store Folder” button.
• It will navigate you the specific folder at which the your sent emails saved.
• Copy those emails from the their or copy the whole folder from their and make a backup of it.

That is how you can save sent items in your hard drive from outlook express.

You can see “Sent Items.dbx” file in the sent items store folder which contains all the emails you have sent to other recipients of email. Now, the thing is that when you try to save the specific file into dvd or cd or on your hard drive you can view the sent items only when the file “Sent Items.dbx” have been placed on the same location from which it has copied.

The Point you have to notice is that it is risky if you  update the file “Sent Items.dbx” after the backing up. then your update will be deleted or terminated, if you replaced the file.

One possible solution is the “Mail Navigator” which can read the “Sent Items.dbx” and with this you don’t need to replace the “Sent Items.dbx” file.

One solution also can be used which is “Save As” option of outlook express but it has some limitations like you can’t save more then one emails at the same time, you need to save emails one by one in outlook express.

You can’t do more about this issue so i can tell you it is better to switch the other emails clients like Thunderbird by mozilla or outlook.

Thuderbird save sent files in text format which can easily transfer or sent to dvd or cd, Microsoft outlook provide you option of “Save As” for multiple sent emails. With those features, you can easily solve the problem of outlook express by replacing outlook express to thunderbird or outlook.
