Why am I getting spam on this email address, which I use only for newsletter

Conclusion on Spam Newsletter - Spammers using many techniques to send spam emails, capturing email address from the website is also a part of the technique with which they capture address and send emails.

I owned some email accounts and i am using ever email account of different purpose like if i want to deal on business my email account for business dealing is different from others. Same thing apllies on the email account which i used for reading newsletters. But from some days i don’t know why i am getting lots of spam emails on my email account which i used to read daily, weekly, monthly newletters. Is my email account being now a victim of spammers? And If yes then how i can protect my email address from spammers?

It is good to use various email address for various services. I also do same when i want to deal for some business i have other email address. But now newsletter subscribe are on the target end on spammers, spammers now targetting newsletter readers, there is a advantage if spammer send spam email to the reader of newsltter reader will read the email as it is valid email.

Newsletter can be subscribe by various website almost all websites who get more the 10000 users per day provide the facility to subscribe there newsletters as daily, weekly, monthly basis.

Some of the website have their own newsletters to connect with the website user, or some website hire the newsletter provider service to send newsletters to the user of website.

Spammers going to target those newsletter providing website at which they can get the email address list at which the website provide facility of newsletter.

There are various ways from which they can get the list of the email address from those websites, spammer regularly monitor the behaviour of website where they can know who exactly website sending emails to their users. And if they found any clue from there they can get the email address of user they try the ways to get the email address.

Here are some of the options at which spammers take a look to get the email address of the newsletter reader of the website.

  • Spammer get the email address list with spyware, virus or malware Most of the time spammer uses spyware, virus or malware to get the list of the email address from the particular user. Those spyware installed on the recipients end and then capture all the email address from the address book of email client or web based email account.
  • Using social networking website Social media is now become a hub of internet users almost 60% of internet users are become a member of one of the social networking website like facebook, myspace or google’s orkut.
  • Computers which Connected on network Spammer try to get the email address list from the computers which are connected with them over the network. Those type of network may one of them from the given list.
    • Local Area Network
    • Wide Aread Network (WAN)
    • Virtual Private Network (VPN)
    • Total hub of intranet
    • Total hub of internet
  • Get the List using Wifi connection capturing address of email owner can be easy if spammer is able to connect itself with any Wifi network.
  • Capture email address list from Mail servers Spammer also try to get the list from the mail server, they used sniffing technique for this. Sniffing technique used by sniffers to capture some information over the network at which they are connected.
  • Capture the email address list from the ISP or email provider I have doubt about this but may be if it is possible then spammer can capture the list of email address from ISP email provider or from any other email provider.
  • Get the email address list from the newsletter services Spammer can negotiate with the newsletter providing services for the list of the email address to whom they can send emails.

Those are some of the ways which can used by the spammer to send spam email on to the email address at which i an only receiving my newsletters.
