Conclusion On Installed Memory - Your computer does not show all the 4 GB of additional installed memory by you because of some specific reasons. Let’s check out why.

I was very much excited to install 4 Gigabyte of memory in my computer with vista home premium but I became disappointed when I checked it was showing only 3.25 GB. Why its happening so? Is there any idea to recover that remaining 0.75 MB of memory?

What if I have installed 4GB of memory in my computer and its not showing it

Lets talk in this matter first that why the memory installed is not being showed by computer in whole and is there any idea to use all the RAM installed?

First right click on My Computer, then click on my properties. Check the RAM displayed on the information box. It might show only 3326 MB of RAM while you may also get the information of processor being 32-bit. The memory of your computer is arranged in bytes. So, it will be 4, 294, 976 and 297 probable combinations for 4 GB combination. you gets the RAM in the forms of bytes, each of which is assigned with its own address. In this way processor informs to the memory hardware that on which butes of RAM it will work.

But the computer can't show all the memory installed on this. The hardware accessed to it has some of its own. memory think about a video card with 512 megabyte and find the 512 MB of system RAM to get attached with it. Now that 512 MB memory is inaccessible.

4GB of RAM is the maximum which a 32-bit machine can address. there is no chance for memory mapping hardware to hide. Unfortunately it need the obscurantism of some part of the memory.

Although there is a solution to get the benefit of all the 4GB memory, however its practically critical and difficult to change. If you can have a newer machine with 64-bit processor. But as I said, its not possible to do for every common user.
