Conclusion On Dual Core Processor - Dual core Processor or Quad core processor are far better to use than Single core processor for increase in speed upto some extent as well as to keep on working in case any program hangs in computer.

I am using a computer with single core processor and it has just 512 MB of RAM. My computer works very slow, even I dont use it for any special purpose. I just have a word processor, some antivirus and security stuff etc. on it. The problem is that it works very slow even after I have defragged and optimized it and cleaned its registry. I often think that I need atleast 1 GB memory and I want to know that what kind of processor should I use dual core procesor or quad core processor?

Which processor should I get dual core processor or quad core processor

OK, In a simple way you can say that ‘core’ is nothing but a complex word to say ‘CPU’. A CPU is computer which work when we command it. Everything in the computer such as memory, hard-disk, circuitry on the motherboard work for supporting CPU and they help it for interfacing.

  • A single core processor can do single work at a time.
  • Dual core processor can do two works at a time.
  • Quad core processor can do four works at a time.

Processor with more than one core are useful for those computer systems which are intended to have ‘CPU intensive’ work often . For example, if you are using your system just to read and write files, internet surfing etc. so the single core processor may provide you more than enough speed for this work but if you are about to do some ‘CPU intensive’ work on your system, you surely need to have atleast a dual core processor to perform more than one task simultaneously.

But sometime things goes dramatic as you can think that any particular task should happen twice faster incase of dual core processor comparatively of quad core processor. This happens when any software is designed to assume the single core processor or the software is not CPU intensive but you will get the advantage of multi-core processor in the form of increased speed according to the number of cores for the software which are-

  • Designed as CPU intensive
  • Or by assuming multicore processor.

Although having dual core processor in your system is far better than the single core processor because if anything hangs in your computer you will have another core left running in your system to perform other functions. Even its better if you have quad core processor but often it is significantly expensive.
