Do I purchase my own DSL modem

Conclusion On Purchase modem - Most people don’t think to purchase their own modem as they are provided with it already by their ISP but buying it your own should have any logical reason.

I am interested in purchasing my own DSL modem. I don't want to use one that is provided by my ISP. I heard that this invites viruses and malwares as well as I am worried about that my DSL modem which is provided by the ISP always has the same default address. I don't like this thing. I also suspect my internet address might leak as I have to computers behind the same router, I heard this can cause people to see my internet address.Have you any idea about what I am saying? I want to know can it help me if I buy my own DSL modem?

DSL modem

Modem is the abbreviation used for Modulator-Demodulator. Basically modem works by converting one type of electrical signals into another. They specifically first 'modulate' the elctrical signals into audio siglais where your computer gets connected eith the phone line, then 'demodulate' those audio signals into electrical signals where used by the attached computer. Now-a-days modem work to take an input i.e. Ethernet connection and behave as a converter between that connection and DSL signal which run in your phoneline.

As you doubt for your DSL modem that it attracts viruses, malwares etc. so its nothing like so. Being connected with internet is itself a kind of invitation for viruses, malwares etc. but modem can't invite or hinder those 'stuffs' anyhow.

Secondly, about your IP address, your ISP assigns you an IP address tom your computer if you ate not using router or to the router if you are using router. That of your address cannot be seen in internet. Your modem does not play any role in this kind of act.

Atlast if your modem has the same IP address for a long time this does not matter to create any problem for you.
