Conclusion On Numlock - Configuring the the NUMLOCK default to ON in windows 2000 is tough to find out for the setting but te process is quit easy.

I installed windows 2000 as operating system for my intel computer. I want NUMLOCK to set already default ON whenever I boot my computer. I tried it to set in many ways. I tried find it in ‘control panel’ but did not succeed. How can I make the NUMLOCK default ON in my computer? Can it be possible to get the NUMOLCK already ON by default when I boot my computer?

NUMLOCK keyboard

It is an easy one to fix that kind of problem. The specific setting for this kind of task is possible to do through My Computer. It can not be carried out by control panel. Still it just need a simple process of four to five steps to make your NUMLOCK ON by default.

This sort of setting is carried out by My computer and is one of the obscure setting in windows 2000. Anyway what all you have to do is to follow the instructions given below.

  • Rightclick on My Computer on Desktop.
  • Click on the option properties.
  • Select the option ‘Advanced Tab’
  • Now select the option ‘system variable’.
  • Click on the option NEW
  • Now enter the new variable NUMLOCK
  • Set the variable value ON.

This way you can set the NUMLOCK defaultedly ON in your keyboard as well as the same method is applicable if you want same kind of settings for your windows xp operating system if you have not NUMLOCK on defaultedly on that system.

I was too having the same task for one of my computer’s keyboard in which windows 2000 is set. I did it by the same process. Now I get the setting NUMLOCK ON by default as my desire when I boot the system.
